Volunteers are the backbone of our organization performing key roles to plan, organize and implement our programs and services.

There are many opportunities to serve within our organization. Please contact us to learn more about joining our Volunteer Board of Directors or Crisis Response Team.

You can also make a difference by being a Donor, helping with fundraising or supporting our special events throughout the year.

Victim Services Crisis Response Volunteer


We have a comprehensive selection and training program in place for this position. Here are some details:

As a Victim Services Crisis Response Volunteer, I will have an opportunity to:

  • Be there for someone in a time of crisis

  • Offer a safe and comforting presence

  • Provide practical assistance

  • Learn more about resources in my community

  • Gain crisis intervention skills

  • Be a part of a dedicated team in my community that is making a difference!

I can become a Victim Services Volunteer if ...

  • I am 18 years of age or older

  • I have access to a vehicle and a valid driver's license

  • I have no record of a criminal offence

  • I can provide 3 references

  • I understand the need for confidentiality

  • I agree to respect and maintain confidentiality

  • I remain calm and clear minded in crisis situations

  • I have good decision-making skills

  • I respect other's choices

  • I can support people whose life and circumstance are different than mine

  • I am able to provide onsite support in a variety of locations

  • I successfully complete the volunteer training

  • I can make a one year commitment to the program

As I Volunteer, I can expect...

  • to work with other volunteers from from the Timmins and District

  • to participate in an intensive volunteer training to ensure that I have the skills needed to respond effectively and appropriately in a crisis

  • ongoing support and assistance from program staff

  • to make a difference in my community

How do I become a Victim Service Crisis Response Volunteer ?

  1. Contact our office for volunteer information and application package

  2. Complete the application and reference forms and return them to the office

  3. Meet with program staff prior to training to learn more about the program and provide consent for my reference and criminal reference checks to be completed

  4. Successfully complete the orientation training and a personal interview

  5. Successfully complete a probationary period

  6. Participate in ongoing training sessions
